Album with 18 paintings, ink and colors on silk . Signature by the artist: “In the twenty ninth year of the Daoguang period (1849), a jiyou year, in the tenth month, respectfully copied by Yaomin Hua Ziyou.” Two seals of the artist: “Ziyou”, “Yaomin.” Against an empty background the eighteen Luohan are painted in an almost caricatural manner accompanied by various animals or objects: A bowl with an emerging temple, a red goat, an elephant, a water turtle, an ox, a tripod, a three horned animal, raining flowers, a snail, a turtle, a magpie, a dragon, books, a flying baton, a green lion, a deer, a big sack and a tiger are the counterparts with which the holy men are in interaction. The faces and body parts of the figures are colored brown and shaded in chiaroscuro, the garments painted in fine line drawing in an archaistic style. It corresponds to the date given in the signature.
